Master of Arts in Theology, Ministry, and Mission

The Master of Arts in Theology, Ministry, and Mission is a program intended to provide additional graduate level vocational education in Biblical studies, systematic theology, pastoral theology, homiletics, apologetics, liturgy, Christian education, and church history for those preparing for ordination as priests in the Anglican tradition.

This is a 60 credit-hour degree for those intending to enter the ministry of the United Episcopal Church of North American and her sister denominations. The first half of this program is identical to the Certificate in Theology.

  • BIB421 – Introduction to the New Testament (3 credits)
  • THE445 – Sermon Preparation and Homiletics (3 credits)
  • HIS535 – Introduction to British Church History (3 credits)
  • THE540 – Introduction to the Articles of Religion (3 credits)
  • ANG542 – History of the Book of Common Prayer (3 credits)

Advanced Bible courses (24 credit hours):

  • BIB530 – The Synoptic Gospels (3 credits)
  • BIB531 – St. John’s Gospel (3 credits)
  • BIB532 – The Pauline Epistles (3 credits)
  • BIB533 – The Pastoral Epistles and the Apocalypse (3 credits)
  • BIB561 – The Historical Books of the Old Testament (3 credits)
  • BIB560 – The Pentateuch (3 credits)
  • BIB562 – Old Testament Prophetic Literature (3 credits)
  • BIB563 – Old Testament Wisdom Literature (3 credits)

Specialization courses (6 credit hours)–two of the following:

  • BIB 565 – Greek I (3 credits)
  • CED 575 – Christian Education for the Whole Church (3 credits)
  • PAS 590 – Pastoral Counselling I (3 credits)
  • PAS 505 – Church Growth and Church Planting (3 credits)

This program is intended for those who already hold at least a bachelor degree. It is expected that candidates will complete the course in four-years, part-time.
