The Master of Arts in Theology, Ministry & Mission is a program intended to provide additional graduate level vocational education in Biblical Studies, systematic theology, pastoral theology, homiletics, apologetics, liturgy, Christian Education, and church history for those preparing for ordination as priests in the Anglican tradition.

This is a 60 credit-hour degree for those intending to enter the ministry of the United Episcopal Church of North American and her sister denominations.  The first half of this program is identical to the Certificate in Theology and consists of the following courses:

  • ANG400 – Introduction to Anglicanism (3 Credits)
  • THE406 – Introduction to Christian Apologetics (3 Credits)
  • BIB420 – Introduction to the Old Testament (3 Credits)
  • BIB421 – Introduction to the New Testament (3 Credits)
  • THE445 – Sermon Preparation and Homiletics (3 Credits)
  • ANG450 – Use of the Book of Common Prayer (3 Credits)
  • BIB530 – The Synoptic Gospels (3 Credits)
  • BIB531 – The Gospel of St John (3 Credits)
  • BIB532 – The Pauline Epistles (3 Credits)
  • BIB533 – The Pastoral Epistles and the Apocalypse (3 Credits)
  • HIS535 – Introduction to British Church History (3 Credits)
  • THE540 – Introduction to the Articles of Religion (3 Credits)
  • ANG542 – History of the Book of Common Prayer (3 Credits)
  • THE552 – Systematic Theology (3 Credits)
  • BIB561 – The Historical Book of the Old Testament (3 Credits)

The second part of the program consists of:

One of the following courses:

  • THE552 – Systematic Theology (3 Credits)
  • BIB 565 – Greek I (3 Credits)
  • BIB 525 – Introduction to the Apocrypha (3 Credits)
  • CED 575 – Christian Education for the Whole Church 3 Credits)
  • PAS 590 – Pastoral Counselling I (3 Credits)
  • PAS 505 – Church Growth and Church Planting (3 Credits)

Two of the following:

  • BIB 560 – The Pentateuch (3 Credits)
  • BIB 561 – The Historical Book of the Old Testament (3 Credits)
  • BIB 562 – Old Testament Prophetic Literature (3 Credits)
  • BIB 563 – Old Testament Wisdom Literature (3 Credits)

Two of the following New Testament Courses:

  • BIB 530 – Synoptic Gospels (3 Credits)
  • BIB 531 – St John’s Gospel (3 Credits)
  • BIB 532 – Pauline Epistles (3 Credits)
  • BIB 533 – The Catholic Epistles and Revelation (3 Credits)

This program is intended for those who already hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.  It is expected that candidates will complete the course in four-years, part-time.
